What is Love Burn? ❀️‍πŸ”₯

Love Burn is a regional burn, which is about ~10K people (compared to ~80K people at Burning Man). Love Burn takes place in Virginia Key in Miami. There is cell signal, but it's pretty weak. The culture of Love Burn is all about gifting and no brand promotion. People there will help by gifting and providing free services. And yes, you should too! When you come, I encourage you to bring some gifts to gift other people including random burners you meet. This is what makes Love Burn special.

Jacki and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary while at Love burn. Thanks Meow for the beautiful trinket!

Despite being pretty bad at taking pictures throughout the trip, I made sure to capture a #Kodak moment!

Budget πŸ’΄πŸ§Ύ

Estimate cost of Love Burn is $1,000-$2,000/person. Costs include:

  • Ticket: ~$400 including fees
  • Flight to Miami: πŸ’΅
  • Buying lots of things
  • Shipping your things: $80/bin - I wouldn't recommending shipping bins since there wasn't much to pack. The best would be to get a couple of large luggages.
  • Camp fees (assuming that you are joining a camp): πŸ’΅

Ticket 🎟

Love burn tickets was pretty abundant when tickets went on sale. See Love Burn for more information regarding tickets.

Housing ⛺️ | 🏨 | 🚐

For living situation, you can either camp on-site, rent a nearby airbnb, or get an RV. The festival is close enough to the city where you can order Ubers and Uber Eats for food delivery.

There are dedicated showers and bathrooms at the playa, along with everyone's favorite, porta potties. Ensure that your tent can withstand intermittent rain (and potential heavy rain).

Join A Camp! πŸ• πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦

You can go out there solo to Open Camp, but you'll have to figure out food situation. I recommend joining a camp. A camp will help supply a lot of your needs, but will require a fee and you'll have to add in work hours during the week. This is also a great opportunity to meet cool people and bond together. I highly recommend it! We joined the camp Caffeine and Crops, a ~25 person camp. Different camps offer different amenities. You can find camps through Facebook Group or other forums.

Things To Bring πŸ“

Below is a general list. For a more detailed list, see Love Burn Checklist.

List of important things to bring:

  • Light sweater/jacket for night time.
  • Spare of clean clothes when going home.
  • Illuminating lights on yourself and/or your backpack - cuz people can't see you at night.
  • Head Lamps - to see in the dark.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Hat - great cover from the sun.
  • Backpack with hydration pack. I've seen some people carry a utility belt that carries all of their necessities.
  • Metal mug/bowl with a carabiner. A lid would be nice to prevent dust.
  • Plate/bowl and spoon/fork to eat your food in. Don’t bring paper/plastic ware since it’s not sustainable.
  • Wet wipes to: clean your utensils, body shower.
  • A single-ply toilet paper roll.
  • First aid kit
  • Ziplock bag (1 quart) for local MOOP. We don’t litter, carry your trash with you!
  • Extra ID in case you lose one.
  • Love Burn ticket, do not forget it!

Weather 🌑
Keep in mind that because this is Miami, there are mosquitos 🦟 and it's pretty warm throughout the day due to high humidity πŸ’§. It's cooler near the ocean front.

Street Layout πŸ—Ί
The festival is a bit small, it's very easy to tour the entire place in a day. Day journey and night journey is different because camps can be active at different times.

The Burn πŸ”₯
We've missed both burn events. The first burn of The Man burned on Friday instead of Saturday and the Temple Burn burned on Sunday.
