Intro
This year, I initially cancelled last minute and wasn't attending Gen Con. However, I decided to join midway and arrived Friday night. Thus, I've only attended the Con Saturday.

Agents of SMERSH 🥳
The first game of the Con that I've played, is a cooperative story-telling board game that is set in the Code War Era. The game is a combination of Pandemic, (more of) Betrayal At House On The Hill, dice roll that will determine a direction of the story, and choose your own adventure. It comes with a giant book containing permutations of how a series of events occur, which is really interesting. I'm not big on Pandemic-like games and completing missions is dependent on dice rolls. Because of those reasons, I'm not going to purchase it.
Sky Team 🥳
Each morning, there was a long line to buy Sky Team as soon as the exhibit hall opens with limited copies and it's not guaranteed that everyone waiting in line will be able to purchase a copy. Therefore, I had to check out what the hype is all about. Sky Team is a cooperative only 2 player game where the pilot and copilot has to land the plane. Both players need to find a way to communicate/strategize without verbally communicating with each other, to manage the landing of the plane. While this game was fun, it feels more like solving a math problem which I'm not sure how great the replay-ability would be.
Bonsai 🥳
Competitive game up to 4 players. The objective is to create bonsai tree and score points based on placing leaves, flower, and fruit tiles. It's simple & strategic, and is a decent game, but nothing that exciting.
Neotopia 💰
This game reminds me of Five Tribes except, everyone has their own goals to achieve and other players can screw you over and vice versa based on tile placement. I was not supposed to buy games this year, but I couldn't resist this one. Throughout the game, everyone is focused and constantly strategizing. We played it again when we got home and the second time got even more interesting. Game worth buying!
Point City 💰
This game was only available for instructions in the exhibition hall. After listening to the instructions, my spider sense tells me that this is a really fun game. How the game works is that on a player's turn, they can generate an amount of money per turn (not collectable) that enables them to buy specific cards. It's a combination of resource management and engine building, simple, somewhat strategic, and quick. It's a cousin game to Point Salad.
Sushi Go!: Spin Some for Dim Sum 🥳
Similar to Sushi Go, except, it's not a drafting game where the cards are passed to each player. The cards are in 5 different bowls on a lazy suzy table. Cards can only be selected from the bowl in front of the player and chopsticks (limited supply) must be used to rotate the table. As players grab the top card of a bowl, it unveils the next card.
Tapple 🥳
A very simple party game where each player names an example of a given category, given that the first letter of the example is an available letter on the device. Once a player names a word with that letter, that exact letter can no longer be used. It goes around until a player messes up like a hot potato. Party fun but too simple.
